The apostrophe s is used for contractions and possesives not for plurals. If you're going to be a grammar/spelling Nazi at least do it right

I'm glad someone fell into that trap. You'll find that in the example above I used "english" as an adjective, modifying the noun "language" so in that case the lower case variant is acceptable. As opposed to were I using it as a noun referring to the language itself, ie. English. Was it just me who did this sort of thing in primary school?

I can't find much on the exact origins of that usage offhand to give a better explanation of the ins and outs of why etc. But it's accepted by Oxford, which is good enough for me.
